Taiwo Obasanjo a former wife of the Ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo had dragged Obasanjo and Adebutu to court to stop the wedding between her son, Olujowon Obasanjo and Tope Adebutu but her efforts were not even attended to as the glamourous wedding went on Mau 11-13 2017 in Lagos. But in less than a year after the ceremony, the union has crashed and Olujonwo Obasanjo cited domestic violence amongst other unfounded rumours of his father being so fetish and moving on to his wife.

This was debunked by a worried Mrs Rosemary Adebutu:

“I have kept quiet all these months because I am not one to stoop low but I cannot sit back and watch them tell lies against my daughter. She is a magistrate and a civil servant, she cannot be responding to all their lies on the Internet.

“We will meet them in court to clear up all these lies and give them the divorce they want. They should leave us alone,we are tired and the divorce will go ahead as reported.

Did Temitope Adebutu hit her husband Olujonwo Obasanjo?

Rosemary Adebutu responded:

Never! Tope has never hit anyone and she is very respectful. They should not tarnish my daughter’s name and career.

All these lies and press attacks are orchestrated by Olujonwo and his mum and he has been denying that he is not the one who released the court papers and exhibits to the press. How can a man bring his private matters to blogs? Is that a man?”

Olujonwo Obasanjo’s talk-of-town wedding to Tope Adebutu:

Lagos stood still between May 11 and May 13 2017 as the families of Sir Kessington Adebutu and that of Chief Olusegun Aremu Okikiola Obasanjo, GCFR were joined together in holy matrimony!

Ex-president, Olusegun Obasanjo’s son, Olujowon Obasanjo on Saturday tithe the knot with his heartthrob, Temitope Adebutu, daughter of the business mogul, Kesington Adebutu, popularly known as Baba Ijebu.

The families had earlier done the traditional marriage rites and then sealed it with a white wedding at The Methodist Church of the Trinity, Tinubu, Lagos, on the Saturday, which was the 13th

The billionaire bride arrived in a brand spanking new glittering white Rolls Royce, while the groom came in another Rolls Royce, but a glistening black one, both came like stars.

The money spent to put it all together is still speculated in the region of billions of Naira, while some have said it was slightly above a billion Naira, some have claimed that it was at least closer to 3 billion that was expended!

The bride’s gown was a custom made dress by one of the best Lebanese brands, Ziad Nakad, who specializes only in Haute Couture wedding outfits for the best of the best. Her hair throughout the ceremonies was taken care of by the best in Nigeria, that’s none other than the incredible, Ugochukwu Igbokwe of Make Me Hair Studios.

The whole of the banquet hall of the Eko Hotel Convention Centre was taken and transformed for use, that alone costs several millions of Naira, running close to a hundred million!

The choice of the best of meals were served, just as the best of drinks likes of the best champagnes, brandies, whiskies and cocktails were made available, that alone is another hundreds of millions.

Even the gifts, that the guests all received were totally out of here. Even the invitations must have cost a sizeable chunk. Any amount that the event might have cost, even if it were 3 billion is most definitely a meagre amount bride’s dad, who is affectionately referred to as ‘Baba Ijebu’ the same name Nigerians have given to his popular lottery/betting game.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo:

The groom’s dad is not a minion too by any standards, as he is none other than the former military head of state of Nigeria and then also a 2 terms President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, in the person of Chief Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo, GCFR, a former chieftain of the PDP and now referred to as a statesman, but also the convener of the 3rd Force, a new political advocacy group.

TAIWO OBASANJO:

In an interview with a national newspaper, Mrs Taiwo spoke on her son’s marriage, why he left his matrimonial home and other sundry issues.

According to her, she had gone to Ikoyi, Lagos to see her son:

“She (Her daughter in-law) told me she had not seen my son since November so I started asking people about this. If I don’t know the whereabouts of my son, should I just fold my arms and watch? Does that make me a responsible mother? I don’t stay close to them. Moreover, Abeokuta to Lagos is not one-minute drive and since they got married I have never interfered and I don’t go there.

So the young man has gone into hiding and this is not the first time this is happening. He has been running away from this girl, he would disappear and then when they settle the matter he will come back home.

Now everybody said they are tired because every time they are always quarrelling…. Thank you for asking me that question. I have visited daddy Adebutu and I even went with my family so that they won’t think it’s his mother that is causing it all. Like I told you earlier, my son doesn’t call me, he doesn’t visit me. The two of them didn’t acknowledge me as a mother.

She only does that when her husband runs away from the house and she will talk to me as if I am her maid too. Asking me questions like, where is he? When last did you see him?

So I went to see daddy Adebutu who is a very good man. The problem of this marriage, which they are trying to heap on me is from that girl, her mother Rosemary Dacosta and daddy OBJ. Tope is like a masquerade she will be crying when you are talking to her but she insults everybody in the family, even the Obasanjo’s family, she rubbishes everybody.

She told the boy she wanted hundred thousand naira as allowance. I told her, this boy doesn’t have money. He works for his father, he is a graduate and he studied International Relations. My son is not idiotic he is just a complete gentleman, very respectful and peaceful.
