There is a reason for Nigeria to take this threat seriously considering it third position on the global terrorism index behind only the fallen country of Afghanistan an Iraq respectively.

The Talibans having overrun civil authority in Afghanistan, declared intention to enforce Islamic law across the word.

This announcement was made by Mohammed Afri Mustapha, one of the Taliban commanders during an interview with CNN.
Mustapha spoke right inside a United State base abandoned by Afghan forces after they ran out of food, leaving weapon and ammunition.

He recalled how the Talibans fought U.S. troops over the years despite more sophisticated assets and equipment.

Many times we attacked this base when the Americans were here. We did operations, we were using IEDs (improvised Explosive Devices).

Meanwhile a former Nigerian aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, warned that what is happening in Afghanistan may happen in Nigeria.

Fani-kayode explained that terrorism will take over if Nigerians fail to stop fighting themselves and unite against insurgency.

Making his voice heard in a tweet, the former Minister cautioned Nigerians to stop acting as if they do not have a common problem.

He wrote “What happened in Afghanistan Will eventually happen in Nigeria if we don’t stop fighting one another, kidding ourselves and acting as if we do not have a major terrorist and insurgency problem”.
