Montero Lamar Hill popularly known by his stage name Lil Nas X amazed his fans on September 2nd after he announced that he was pregnant. This news confused his fans who were wondering how a man could be pregnant.
In June of this year, the rapper came out as a gay in a public setting. His explanation was that he felt “The pressure was signaling him to do so.” He had been hiding his s3xual orientation and was unsure whether his fans would support him or not. Since then, the rapper has come out publicly and declared himself to be “gay.”
The 22-year-old rapper has caused a storm online in the transgender community, with people claiming he used the pregnancy bump in order to gain attention for the launch of his debut album.

On Friday (Sept 4) Lil Nas X shocked fans when he revealed his baby bump for the first time.
The star shared photos from his “pregnancy photoshoot” where he was pictured in an all white outfit, cradling his baby bump.
The ‘Old Town Road’ rapper captioned the photos: “SURPRISE! I can’t believe i’m finally announcing this. My little bundle of joy “MONTERO” is due September 17, 2021.”
In an interview with People, Lil Nas explained that the pregnancy photo shoot started off as fun joke after he listened to Megan Thee Stallion’s verse on his “Dolla Sign Slime” for the first time.
“I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is amazing,’ so I immediately called my stylist,” he said. “She was like, ‘Wow, this all comes together. Your album. The timing of the photos coming out now also couldn’t have been better, as Lil Nas X just posted a spoof to Instagram on Monday of Drake’s Certified Lover Boy cover art featuring several pregnant women emojis with the difference being that his features pregnant men.
“I was like, ‘There’s no way the universe is lining up this perfect for this to happen,” he says with a laugh.
Asked whether the album is an immaculate conception of sorts, Lil Nas X responds, “I guess I am the father as well as the mother.”
“But I guess the producers who worked on it are like the dads too,” he says, before giving it another thought: “Or maybe uncles.”
Critics from fans:
The shoot has upset some due to its controversial nature, but Lil Nas isn’t letting the backlash faze him in the slightest.
Lil Nas X was called out by many people, including Schuyler Bailar who is a trans advocate and athlete.
Bailar claims that the fake pregnancy stunt was “insensitive and irresponsible” as it is grounded in a “shock factor” experience and perpetuates the idea that men cannot get pregnant, adding that “trans men can and do all the time.”
The rapper responded on Sept. 2 to Twitter users who expressed this dissatisfaction with the shoot, with one person writing that he’s “ugly” and that she’s tired of him. “You really on here calling a young mother to be ugly?” Lil Nas trolled. The rapper hit back at another user (who later deleted their tweet), and wrote, “Oh yes a pregnant n—a, the greatest threat to black civil rights.”
The irony of the photo shoot backlash is not lost on Lil Nas, either. “N—-s be like ‘you desperate for attention’ then proceed to give it to me,” he pointed out in another tweet. He eventually shared, “Let me get offline, all this negative energy is not good for the baby.”
