The African richest pastor said the incident was a sequel to his warming against such attitudes, saying that the church is “a dreadful place”.

The General Overseer of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo revealed how a worshipper ran mad after he tried to steal from the church. He said this during one of the church’s programs, Shiloh.

While he was speaking at the ongoing International Youth Alive Convention 2021 in Canaanland Ota in Ogun State, Bishop Oyedepo said the incident was sequel to his warming against such attitudes. He said that the church is “a dreadful place”.

He said;

“In one of the Shilohs, I warned people and somebody was found trying to pick something that was not his and he ran mad immediately.”

The clergyman said that it is a risk to steal in the “house of God”, and he warned youths participating to deviate from such character.

In his words;

“I waited so as to sound this note of warning. ‘How dreadful is this place. This is none other but the house of God and this is the gate of heaven. Be warned against picking anything that is not yours. Be warned, be warned. It’s a risk. Should anyone have an ulterior mission for being in camp. Be warned, it’s a dreadful place. How dreadful is this place. This is none other but the house of God and the gate of heaven. I waited to give you this message before blessing you to go for the night. See it and look away. And don’t try it yourself”.

Earlier, Bishop Oyedepo got criticisms from some people who said that he uses money generated from his churches to build a factory instead of the church a huge auditorium.

In his response to these people, the Senior Pastor said;

”They are building one hundred thousand seat auditorium. Did they collect money from you? They should have built a factory. Do you budget for somebody’s resources? Keep quiet my friend and face your job. They enjoy hearing from me so I like speaking to them.”

Earlier, there was the issue of him sacking 40 Pastors because they weren’t bringing money to church. Upon hearing this, people came for him and one of the affected Pastors, whose name is Godwin spoke about what happened saying that he was employed on August 28, 2020. He further mentioned that he was invited with about 40 of his colleagues by the state pastor on July 1, 2021, but to their shocked, were sacked for failing to grow the income of the church.
