Despite independence, Nigeria has witnessed a lot of ethnic differences in the country as people of different religions and ethnicity has continued to show and give reasons why they can’ t remain together. Despite independence, Nigerians have continued to show that they do not have what it takes to be together as people of different regions have asked the president to allow them to go.
Secession agitation has increased since President Buhari took power. Many states in Nigeria have also started doing some things which have made people think that they want to break out of Nigeria. Rather than embrace each other, Nigeria has become divided than they have ever been.
Many governors in Nigeria had on many occasions, look for how to promote unity in the country. While there is a Constitution in place, many people believe that the constitution no longer expresses the will of the people, and therefore, they want it changed or scrapped.
People think that Nigeria is no longer working and it may never work until a new constitution is brought into place. Meanwhile, there is the issue of power rotation and other issues regarding the 2023 presidential election.
On Friday, Kastina State Governor, Aminu Masari told President Buhari to do his very best to bring the people together. Masari said the issue of ethical differences has done a lot of damages to the system and the economy and if care is not taken, it might affect the position of Nigeria and leads to a breakup. In other for that not to happen, he urged the president to stand up and work on bringing the people of Nigeria together.
Also, he said the people of the country do not seem to want to have anything to do with the north. If that continues, he said bad things would surely happen and the north would not be a good place for the people to live or grow their business. The issue of insecurity in the region must be taken care of and all residents in Northern Nigeria must be free and protected from terror attacks, he said.
His statement read party ” Nigeria is currently in place today due to the relationship that existed amongst leaders many years ago but the same relationship that exists amongst leaders in today Nigeria can break up the country. A lot of things are missing, there are differences and conflicts everywhere. A lot of bad things are happening daily and if care is not taken, Nigeria would be destroyed. *
