President Muhammadu Buhari has conferred a posthumous award on Joseph Blankson, a Nigerian man who died while saving 13 victims of a boat accident on the Abonnema-Bakana waterway in Rivers State on July 28, 2018.
Blankson was Honoured with the ‘Presidential Special Award for Bravery and Patriotism’ at an event organised to mark Nigeria’s 61st Independence anniversary.
The event is currently taking place at the State Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Popularly known as Joe Blankson, the recipient was aged 41 years and hailed from Bakana in Rivers State.
